Harken Well is an early music duo based in Melbourne, Australia. Comprising Laura Moore (viola da gamba/baroque ’cello) and Lizzy Welsh (baroque violin), Harken Well performs with a range of guest artists to make possible the historically informed performance of a variety of music from the 16th -18th Centuries.
Since meeting at the Victorian College of the Arts, Laura and Lizzy have enjoyed a diverse collaborative performance practice spanning music from the Renaissance and baroque, contemporary art music and heavy metal.
Laura and Lizzy have each performed with Latitude 37, Orchestra of the Antipodes, La Compañia and Ensemble 642 and individually have appeared with Van Diemen’s Band, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Ironwood, Josie and the Emeralds, Accademia Arcadia and Unholy Rackett amongst many other leading early music ensembles both in Australia and abroad.
Between them, Laura and Lizzy have appeared on period instruments at the Peninsula Summer Music Festival, the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music, Metropolis New Music Festival, the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields Festival, Woodend Winter Arts Festival, and the Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik.
